Open your home to a student from China.
Sino Bright School BC places students aged 14 to 18 from our partner schools in China with Vancouver families while they are here for learning programmes and university preparation. Hosts receive a monthly homestay allowance, a coordinator who answers the phone at any hour, and a student who becomes part of the household.

Clear expectations, both ways.
What we ask
- A private, furnished bedroom with a window, a desk and a closet, and a key to the house.
- Three meals and snacks a day, with English spoken at the table.
- A criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening for every adult in the household, renewed every three years.
- A home visit before any placement and again every two years.
- Home and car insurance that covers a student living with you.
- A curfew and house rules the student can understand, and a phone call to us when something is off.
What you receive
- A monthly homestay allowance for each student, paid by the school.
- The student's profile before you say yes: age, interests, diet, allergies and anything their care needs.
- A 24-hour line to the homestay office: 604-889-7257.
- Orientation before your first placement, and a coordinator visit in the first month.
- Paperwork handled by the school with the family in China, in Chinese and English.
- A student who arrives with a flight plan you have seen, met at the airport by us or by you.
Most families host one or two students at a time; larger homes may host more after a conversation with the coordinator. Students of the same first language are usually placed in different homes so that English stays the language of the house.
